The Central Coast Double Century begins and ends at the City Park in Paso Robles, California.
The initial portion of the route takes you over the Santa Lucia Range to Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) via Adelaida, York Mtn. and Santa Rosa Creek Road. Hope you've lubed your 39 x 26. Once on PCH you'll travel through the beautiful hamlets of Cambria, San Simeon, Ragged Point and Gorda as you prep for the next assault of the Santa Lucia's. The CCD consist of two routes. A lowland and highland route. The lowland route is 195.8 miles at ~12,600 ft of climbing. The traditional route (highland) is 210 miles and ~15,000 ft of climbing.
There will be six rest stops, a water stop (more if the day is above normal temperature for this time of year), plus a full lunch stop and sag support. (Elevation Chart coming soon) There will be an after ride meal. Communications around the course will be provided by HAM radio operators. Ride patches will be given to all riders upon check-
There will be two light drop off points. The first drop off point will be Rest Stop 4 (150 miles), and the second is Rest Stop 5 (179 miles).
There will be no over the counter medications available at the rest stops, you must supply your own.
This is one of the more difficult double centuries in the California Triple Crown Series. The Central Coast Double should not be your first attempt at riding 200+ miles, due to the nature and extent of the climbs, which become more difficult if it is a very hot day. In contrast if you have completed events such as Climb to Kaiser, Terrible Two, Heartbreak, Devil Mountain or the Markleeville Death Ride (all passes) then this ride can be completed well within the time limit.
The course will officially close at midnight, a cutoff time will be imposed at the Bradley rest stop (Rest stop 5) which is at the 179-
There will also be a Highland route cutoff time at the Harden Square rest stop (Rest stop 4) 149.3 miles. All riders must leave there by 6:30 P.M. or will be required to take the Lowland route.
After The Ride
There will be an after ride dinner. Please ask a CCD official before start of ride, the location of the after ride dinner.
1. Helmets will be required and must be worn at all times during the ride.
2. You are to ride safely and responsibly, obeying all regular vehicle traffic laws.
3. Riders finishing after dark will be required to have legal lights. Leg lights not are acceptable.
