Destructive 6.5 Earthquake
Hit's Paso Robles, California

12/22/03 @ 11:16 A.M.

The pictures below were taken between 1:21 P.M. and 1:48 P.M. the day the quake hit.  Unknown to me at the time, two women were killed by falling rubble.  Our prayers go out to the two women's family.

The Historic Clock Tower collapsed which was the CCD's start and finish area.

The earthquake raised the city of Paso Robles one to two feet which affects the rides' elevation.

Arnold Schwarzenegger arrived the day after to assess the damage to buildings and offered any assistance the city may need to repair the damage.

I was at work when this quake hit and I've got to say, living in California since 1963, this was the largest quake I've ever felt.  It was very frightening not knowing if my family was okay.  Power was out and phones were out.  I had two cell phones which neither of them worked.  After about 20 - 30 frantic minutes, I successfully contacted my family.

In my option, there were no Atheist in Paso Robles that day.  Everyone I talked to said the first words out of their mouths were, "Oh My God!" (including myself).
